Thrift Store Human

Thrifting today and saw this little cutie pie, The Chilly Owl.

When I really think about it, I’m a thrift store human. In my flesh, before I knew Christ, I had been used up by life and the World and I was one step from the landfill. There was no hope, no future as far as I could tell, just an endless, senseless cycle of life.

My name was “Broken” and you could read it all over my face.

I lived a life of one who was left in a trash bag at the back door of the thrift store and then sorted and brought in and set on a shelf. My little tag said, “$.25” and my actions and beliefs reflected that feeling of little value or worth. I thought I was a throwaway. Sidelined in life, I acted the part and was doing valueless and unworthy things.

Maybe you get this. Maybe this is you.

A few of my “found” treasures in my house.

Then one perfectly-timed day, my Savior came through and picked me up off that shelf in His crucifixion-scarred hands, turning me over to examine me, the treasure He found! He brought me into His quiet place, washed me in His Blood, stood me before His Father and called me by my name, a name I had not known: “Beloved”.

We are His treasures, the ones He went to the cross to salvage and save.

He didn’t pay a thrift store price for us—Jesus Christ paid the highest price in all eternity!

He did it for all of us. And even you if you don’t know Jesus, if you are human, you bear the image of God. He died for you so that you can be made new again, for you to become His pearl of great price.

Won’t you let Him?

“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds and to put on the new self, created to be like God…” (Ephesians 4:22-24)

Have you had times when you have acted less than worthy? Remember those times and confess them to a gracious Savior! He is willing to forgive you. And then turn from that sin, put off your old self. Beloved, you were created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Receive it today.

I found a pair of these chairs by the side of the road for free. I cleaned them up and they are some of my very favorites!
Three items I found and cleaned up: 1940-50’s Cabinet, 1970’s Chair, Peacock Figurine
Red chair I saw today! Sturdy, a place to rest.
Love these brown vintage coffee cups!
Etched Glass, a delicate and pretty vessel.
The Peacock. Super old, thought to be a spice container for traders in older times. Thrift store find!
