Today is the day.
What a hopeful thought.
There is so much promise to this in so many ways.
Friend, what IS today the day for?
Breaking an addiction?
Starting a good habit?
Becoming a better spouse, parent, or child?
Embracing God’s calling for you?
Stepping into forgiveness?
Sometimes we can overthink issues and we forget to just START.
Sometimes we think we can do it on our own. “Pull up your bootstraps and figure it out, Cowboy.”
And we can. For a while.
But if we want to overcome and have major breakthroughs, we have to do it in the strength of the Holy Spirit. This is how lasting change happens. This is where our hope lies. It’s in Jesus Christ.
Are you Oppressed? He will uphold your cause. Hungry? He will feed you. Prisoner? He will set you free. Blind? He will give you sight. Foreigner? He watches over you, Friend. Fatherless, Widow? Beloved, He will sustain you.
TODAY IS THE DAY. For you. For me.
BEGIN.
Psalm 146
Praise the Lord, my soul.
I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save.
When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing.
Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God.
He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—he remains faithful forever.
He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.
The Lord reigns forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations.
Praise the Lord.
