Scriptures4Students

Sunny days and star-streaked nights. Pool towels drying on the patio and swim suits hanging over the tub. Flip flops and Razor scooters dumped by the door. Library books stacked a mile high on the coffee table. Ponytails, ringlet curls, and no makeup. Late nights with friends, county fair rides and meteor showers. Lazy dinners and simple schedules.

Summertime starts so late and ends too soon.

Time is fleeting, especially the time we as parents have left with our kids before school starts again. How can we breathe life and light into this next school year for them?

God’s Word.

Here are Scripture verses you can pray over your kids, grandkids, or students this school year:

For Wisdom and Learning:

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10.

“Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Esteem her, and she will exalt you; embrace her and she will honor you.” Proverbs 4:7-8.

“Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life. “ Proverbs 4:13.

For Friendships:

“Do not envy wicked men, do not desire their company; for their hearts plot violence and their lips talk about making trouble.” Proverbs 24:1.

“He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.” Proverbs 13:20.

“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12. (Of course, Christ is that third strand…)

For Conduct:

“Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers (or those who listen to you).” 1 Timothy 4:16. (parenthesis mine.)

“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.” Proverbs 3:3-4.

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12.

For Discipline:

“…train yourself to be godly.” 1 Timothy 4:8b

“My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.” Proverbs 3:11.

For Safety:

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me, says the Lord.” Isaiah 54:17.

“The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.” Psalm 34:7.

For Spiritual Encouragement:

“Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies. Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.”
Psalm 34: 11-14.

“Homework and the daily grind. Practices begin, summer’s left behind.” ~TCGW (FB)

“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.
Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.
Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you.
Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm.
Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.”
Proverbs 4:23-27.
